Although I have historically been a supporter of BJP, I feel that everyone should be open to change and if anyone does something right then it should be commended. I have been trying to follow the political happening in India and recently Mumbai has been on its forefront. Shiv Sena, once a powerful force and probably a righteous organization, has started taking the same path as MNS and going on the Marathi and Maharashtrian Fundamentals. For a good number of days when MNS and Shiv Sena both were making statements which promoted regionalism, and no national leader came out criticizing them and this made me feel all the more terrible. continue

Well we all keep cribbing about the Government, and ofcourse this has been going on and will go on for many many years. But since the past one year the world has been looking at all companies in a different light, we are seeing companies restructure, de-leverage themselves (remove their debt), and a lot of strategic rethinking. The Governments across the world have done a lot in terms of financial stimulus, bailouts and many more things. continue

Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) are a brand known all over the world in technology, and Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) have also made their mark in the world in terms of management. The premier institutes of India are known for selecting the best of the best, or the cream of the country as some people call it and make this cream even better. Well I really don’t think I need to write more about IITs and IIMs, as the identity is well established. But the question right now in front of us is the dilemma of Central Government opening 7 more IITs and 7 more IIMs. I will try and present some points around the topic and hope for a nice discussion in the comments. continue

• All leading newspapers, on Monday 17th, carried advertisements on their very first page questioning the Reliance Industries (RIL) – Petroleum Ministry nexus. When the ADA group realized that the three way conflict might degenerate to the other 2 parties ganging up, it decided to go public – with a difference.
Another ad was released today (18th) on similar lines. The quarter page advertisement ends by asking the reader to send back comments using email or SMS.
• Earlier this year, Idea mobile carried a campaign with Abhishek Bachchan as a civil servant who involves the junta in decision-making – regarding bridges, SEZ and so on. Taking a lesson from this, the BMC sent out SMSes asking parents whether schools should be shut as a precautionary measure against swine-flu. continue

Cigarettes remain the most visible of “vices” in the modern day realm. Tobacco related cancer and deaths are possibly the most well known amongst the cancerous deaths. In fact, cancer is now associated with tobacco to a great extent. Parents dissuade their children and wards from smoking on the basis of the strong correlation (I will not use the word causality for a reason) with smoking and cancer. Governments strongly believe in the correlation too and use various techniques to curb smoking (but never ban it). This mystery seems to baffle both me, and I am quite sure, many of the readers of the blog. What I will therefore try is to try and justify the cigarette, thereby justifying the aberrant government behavior, the existence of the cigarette companies, and some other related matters. continue
The history books of India will always remember this phrase, the British policy of ‘divide & rule’ led to their colonization of India and ruling it for over 200 years. So everyone who has got his education in India should actually remember this strategy and understand its importance. In simple words the ‘Divide & Rule’ strategy means breaking up a combined entity into smaller units so that it is easier to conquer them. For a more concrete definition you can visit this article on Wikipedia. continue
The policies of Indian Government, their strategy and then finally the implementation is such a process that I should probably not even discuss it. Indian Government has done so many wrong things that probably by failing to fail they did something right. So when I read an article in Times of India stating that RBI has accused the IT Companies of failing the government in providing financial inclusion, I could not help but smile! Quoting from the article

Following my earlier post regarding that Indian Elections need technology revolution, my current post focuses on the issue of passports and how technology can be used to improve them. I believe there are many inefficiencies in this world and most of the human effort is going into solving other problems than the problems which are most important. Now According to Wikipedia, continue

Bernie Ecclestone of F1 fame recently made comments that he adores Hitler. According to Bernie, dictatorships are better than democracy and help get work done faster and swifter without all the bureaucratic red tape that is involved in democracy. Later he clarified his comments that he adored Hitler only for getting things done and considers Hitler a lunatic for all the other things he did. continue
Relationship between India and Nepal are very close and run through several decades. Still the relationship between the two is described to be that of mutual distrust and this is the reason why China has been able to make inroads into this Himalayan nation.
Formal relations between the Government of India and the Government of Nepal can be traced back to 1950 when the Peace and Friendship Treaty was signed. The highlights of the treaty include: continue
