A recent article at BusinessWeek talks about the blame being attributed to MBAs for the crisis. Atleast BusinessWeek strives for neutrality in its tone, this article at Bloomberg is a straight out rant against the MBA degree. The person holding the MBA degree is an easy target in the current world. The erstwhile “masters of the universe” are the ones being blamed for the failure of respectable institutions like General Motors irrespective of how wobbly they were to start with. The fact that almost all the heads of the failed banks were B-school alumni gave journalists easy fodder for their stories. Of course, this is just selective vision from the journalists cherry-picking examples to suit their world view. continue

Shubham, in one of his earlier posts, had covered the interesting Vodafone ads featuring zoozoos and one of the comments on that post wondered why the ads worked. The ads are definitely interesting depicting the various services of Vodafone with a humorous short. And the novelty of the ads ensures that they will definitely have high recall. The campaign itself has been executed well like Shubham pointed out. continue

Every year, magazines decide to confer upon a few business schools in India the honour of being the best in the country. But the recognition inevitably comes with the same caveat – we do not hold a candle to the top B-schools of the west. They gratingly harp about the lack of research done at Indian B-schools and the subsequent lack of generation of “intellectual capital”. The authors of such articles seem to miss the raison d’etre of B-schools, which is to create capable managers. continue
