CHANAKYA is a well known Indian character & you have done well to portray his contributions.

I suppose one article is too less for CHANAKYA.

Shall be glad to read about other facets of his life & his contribtions in different fields.

For a beginning , this was superb effort by the writer.

Wonderful article!

I have been following Strat. In & must say
Way To Go!with this & such pieces!

The writer appears to be very optimistic about "Many Chandraguptas in India".

But such optimism is welcome!

Why not a series on "Great Strategists" on Strat. In?

"Today in India , we find several Chandraguptas waiting to be discovered, encouraged …..unfortunately , so few like Chanakyas. We find terrorists blatantly using Indian land to create havoc, but nobody with dogged perseverance of Chanakya to root the evil of terrorism"

No offense Sir, but in today's India, this is laughable. The reason - an eight letter word starting with v and ending with k.

well compiled.India truly needs someone like chanakya now to reshape and strengthen the deteriorating economy. its a good assimilation of facts about chanakya who has undoubtedly helped put the foundations of the mauryan dynasty.
His thoughts need to be reassembled and retaught as he was a package of intellect, diplomacy, strategies and statesmanship.
good work.

Great article. Although I heavily disagree with a lot of historical and social info provided in the article, I do agree that India (and the world) definitely needs someone of his stature.

And as for Chanakya being called evil, I haven't actually heard of anyone refer to him like that, but then, even Machiavelli, Ivan the Terrible, Clausewitz and Genghis Khan have been called evil by people with a very narrow and limited knowledge of history. I feel Chanakya and his thoughts need to be updated and repackaged for the Indian youth. This, I believe is a very viable project, considering how classical Indian arts have been successfully repackaged and updated keeping the modern audience (will definitely do an article on this in the future)

On another note: Can we expect another, more detailed article on certain features of Arthshastra?
